Heritage conservation
Since 1972, the organization of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the "Convention on the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage" , the international community has joined efforts to involve the whole of the population in a common challenge: to protect and preserve cultural and natural heritage is part of World Heritage . To achieve this goal, the different international and national agencies responsible for heritage conservation have numerous actions to promote the protection of property and designated sites of interest to all mankind.
The common challenge is to protect and preserve cultural and natural heritage is part of World Heritage
Aware of the importance of future generations in the pursuit of this challenge, these organisms affect the awareness of young people. For this reason, try to involve them directly through various educational programs that bring them closer to the legacy of the countries and help them understand the value that represents the preservation of that which is part of its historical and cultural identity.
The educational kit
Internationally, one of the most active and complete equity in education is the "World Heritage Education Programme" (WHE). It began in 1994 thanks to the coordination of the World Heritage Centre and Project Network UNESCO Associated Schools (ASPnet).
Teachers have access to a folder with suggestions for teaching heritage education work in the classroom
Since then he has produced various educational projects aimed at mobilizing young people to participate actively in promoting the World Heritage. One of the most important is the educational resource kit "World Heritage in Young Hands" , a kit of educational materials for teachers, which has been published in over 20 languages and contains proposals and education activities to work equity in the classroom as a crosscutting issue in all subjects.
National Initiatives
At the national level, Spain began in 2009 a program called Young Heritage , a pioneering initiative that aims to use education and communication as a tool to promote the conservation of heritage among young people.
The idea is to use education as a tool to promote heritage conservation
The program's main activity is holding an annual forum on heritage involving young people between 12 and 15 Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal. Through the official sites of these forums, you can access all information and materials that are generated in them and contribute to youth convey the requisite information about heritage.
Heritage Cities
Another Spanish initiative which this year celebrates a decade is the "Meet the World Heritage Cities", promoted by the group of 13 World Heritage cities of our country. The project is aimed at all students in secondary schools in these towns and is developing throughout the school year, a research and field on a city estate (other than their own) to promote awareness of the rich heritage of Spain.
It aims to bring the heritage to young people through the exchange of ideas and knowledge between schools
The Organization of World Heritage Cities , which includes the 238 cities in its territory who have a site inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List , launched in 2004-2005 the program "Youth on the Trail of World Heritage " . This project aims to bring the heritage to young people 12 to 17 years, through the exchange of ideas, knowledge and work between schools in these towns
